Today, i begin the popular 30 day blog challenge. Read about it and got fascinated about the whole idea. The 30 day challenge is about writing a blog post every day for 30 days, writing on different topics, issues and answering questions relating to oneself.
The 30 day Blog challenge seems like an exciting thing to try so here i am. It is aptly termed a challenge because writing every day is challenging i reckon but being an aspiring author, i believe it is something i have to learn!
so here we go. Let’s see how day 1 would go and let me know your thoughts in the comment section!
Write Some Basic Things About Yourself
How do i start? Maybe an introduction? Okay. My full names are Ufuoma Jennifer Esegine aka Jennifer Pompaski, aka Dean Dede aka Jlo. Yeah you got that right. Pompaski happens to be a nickname given to me by one of my Sister’s friends. I adopted the name because i like it and it is the pseudonym i will be writing under when i start publishing as an author.
I am dark in complexion, i like to think i am very tall. Yes, i keep deluding myself about my height hehehehe. My mom and my brothers are very tall. I used to nag my mom when i was younger for not passing on that good gene to me. It was a constant spat between us but i am older and wiser now lol. I am above average height so i am tall for a woman. Thank you.
Jennifer is an Engineer. I love reading and writing. These are not just hobbies, they are my passion and i hope to make them work for me! It is my love for writing that made me start a book when i was 15 (it was a time when smart phones and laptops and social media was not easily accessible and sadly, i lost the the handwritten book when we moved house then). It is that same passion that made me start blogging and hopefully get me published as an author also.
I am an African. Full blown Nigerian. Black and a proud one at that. I believe in African traditional values but i do not let them confine or limit me. I tend to adopt the good practices and eschew bad practices like female genital mutilations and not educating the female child in Africa. Read my blog posts on ending female genital mutilation and educating the female African child.
I wear glasses. Well, not all the time because it is highly inconvenient to me. However, it is a “necessary evil” and it does make me look sexy if i do say so myself lol. I was diagnosed of Astigmatism years ago, was prescribed glasses to correct it and i completely ignored it! Then last year, it got worse and i didn’t have any other option than to wear them.
Jennifer is an old soul. I have always acted well beyond my years even at a young age. I am uninterested in what my age group find exciting and i am not satisfied making friends with people who i cannot relate to and i tend to find myself alone most of the time. A loner? Not really.
Jennifer is squeamish! I dislike every crawling crawlies (animal lovers, please do not crucify me!). I cannot stand roaches, snakes (horror of all horrors), worms and the likes. I am so squeamish, i decided against studying medicine simply because i can’t stand the sight of blood. My own blood scares me! How do you think someone else’s would make me? Your guess is as good as mine!
Now onto style! I love looking good. All the time. You know what they say right? Looking good is good business darlng. I generally like clothing items that make me stand out and look different from any other person. I love trends but i do them differently. You will catch me wearing heels (not sky high heels lol), boots, sneakers, flats et al. I do casuals, popping and hot. I do “serious” too haha.
My brand of music is RnB, soulful ballads. They speak to me. Anytime. All day every day. My best song/music would be when i am back on my feet again by Michael Bolton. I started loving the song long before i truly understood the lyrics. Then when i grew older, i loved the music even more.
The lyrics are powerful. My choice of music could habe been influenced as a result of growing up in the midst of adult girls (all women now!) who loved these sort of songs. Musicians like Mavin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Barry White, Michael Bolton, Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, and most recently Sam Smith speak to me. Deeply!
I thrive on playing number puzzles especially Sudoku. My interest in the number puzzle was sparked when i was preparing for an aptitude test with one of these giant oil servicing companies. Sudoku is included in the test and alleged to be the last section. I did not get to do it then but that made me really take interest in the game and i think i am very good at it! I will beat you all in a Zuma game anytime. Bring it on! Lol.
So apart from reading, i love movies.Thrillers, Sci-fi, Adventure, Romance, Comedy are a yes for me but please do not make me watch horror movies! Who ever invented horror movies should be jailed (probably dead now lol). Jokes apart. I Do. Not. Do. Horror. Movies. They give me nightmares and make me die like a million times even before the movie ends so why would i like them? I duff my hats for you bad girls that can seat through “Scream” and not scream your hearts out! I don’t know how you do it!
Lastly, i am so outspoken, at times it becomes a problem! I do not like and do not tolerate any form of oppression so will generally speak up/out when i find myself or others in that sort of situation. I always stand for the truth and it has alienated friends and family alike. I however do not care as long as i know i stand for what is right and true. It is not an easy road but one i am willing to take.
So that’s it. Day 1 of the 30 day blog challenge. Let me know your thoughts. Share some basic things about you in the comment section. I want to get to know you all! I hope the weekend brings some sunshine your way.
To each his/her own. That is why we all are uniquely different.
